Sandy Pony Donuts

Maybe it’s just because I’m not from the area, but we’re not sure what the hype is behind the doughnuts here. We tried the plain doughnut and a blueberry pie flavor one. The plain one tastes like fried dough from a fair, just without any cinnamon-sugar. The blueberry one, my expectation was it would be like a fresh blueberry syrup, but it was just a bright-blue blueberry-flavored pancake syrup flavor. We didn’t finish either of them. We tried a glazed one before from another location, and we both agreed it wasn’t very good and was too sweet. We tried their açaí bowls before, too, and there are better açaí bowls in the area. My husband said he would even prefer just going to dunkin over here for a doughnut. Clearly, it’s for someone because people seem to like it, but I’d just like to add that it’s not the place for a “gourmet” sort of doughnut experience. It’s much more like fair food.

Not much beats a warm, made-to-order donut (or dozen) on a chilly fall day. We first tried Sandy Pony Donuts in 2022 and knew we would make another stop (or two) on future Bethany Beach visits. On this trip we tried chocolate covered pretzel, banana coconut, porky pony, strawberry stallion, Mary Lee-mon, sea foam, surfer dude, pony party, yabba dabba doo-nut, chocolate covered pretzel, salted caramel, and blueberry pie. The donuts were melt in your mouth warm, and everyone loved their selections. You can’t go wrong with your favorite flavors uniquely crafted in donut form.

They have the best donuts so fresh. The acai bowls are delicious and a great size. Highly recommend them if visiting.
