Surfin Betty’s Burger Bar

I'm giving this place 5-stars because there is so much to love and an incredible amount of effort put in here for families to have a great lunch and dinner experience after a long day at the beach - specifically the awesome shake combinations (cinnamon toast & berry blast shakes to name a few) and Mexican colas/blueberry, vanilla cream & orange sodas. The service and atmosphere here is also fantastic. The woman who took my order and worked the register also stopped what she was doing to come to my table to bring me my shake first right when it was ready, and then made a second trip to my table once the burger was ready. I ordered the "Jam Good Bacon" burger with cheddar & onion rings to dip in my delicious vanilla shake. The double burger patties are very thin. The bacon on the burger was thick and savory and the bun was toasted. Are there better burgers to be had at the Delaware Shore? Yes, but only in Rehoboth (The Blue Hen). This place is exactly what Bethany Beach needs instead of another overpriced Five Guys. I'm looking forward to visiting here again to try the chicken sandwiches and other exciting options on the menu. I wish this place was a bit bigger, as they also have a 3pm - 6pm happy hour. The bar is rather small, and I very much expect a place like this to have lines out the door in the summer. I was very satisfied with my vanilla shake & onion rings, plus the wonderful service. Surfin Betty's is almost perfect. Recommended, with caveats noted.

Everytime I have eaten inside this place I always seem to have the same experience. Very nice people and service, but terrible overpriced food. I tried to give it many chances but today was the last time I order from there. I ordered plenty of different food items and they all are not worth the money.

I door dashed today and wanted some high quality tenders. I figured how can you mess up chicken tenders? Not only is this place expensive, so is DoorDash, so I was really hoping it would be worth it. Anyways, it came and when I opened my box, there is some weird black goo/sludge all over my food. Something with the oil? I don’t know. And no it’s not burnt pieces. Whatever it is, it completely changed the flavor of the food. Absolutely disgusting, and the fact it was all over the food I couldn’t find any pieces that were okay. I threw it out, and it’s an unbelievable that a place that is expensive and has a great atmosphere can make such terrible food. Really disappointed. Luckily doordash refunded me, and I am not the type to complain at ALL, but this has been way too many instances with this place.

I would really like to know what the sludge is. I’m sure it’s oil or something but it tastes terrible. Hopefully you guys get that under control or at least lower the price, because $18 for that is unbelievable. :(

Super good, can’t get enough of it, had to comeback the next day for another burger. I mean where can you get a pasture-raised burger that been dry age for 3 weeks? It had a lil funky you expected from dry age, very beefy, juicy and tender. Very rare! Love this place, atmosphere was normal but hey, you there just for the burger right? Highly recommended.
