Zwaanendael Museum
The display on the first floor lost track of the history by trying to centre the narrative on contemporary intersectionality points. It started with a dress worn by a local transgender person, then went on to explain how the social diversity of the crew of a local British warship wreck from the 1700s was an example of the open and inclusive nature of maritime societies and went on to explain how people of African heritage could be found in significant numbers in UK in the late 18th Century (which is untrue) and hence one of the crew may have been black. I did wonder if this was done intentionally as an insider joke. Try the maritime museum instead.

Zwaanendael Museum is a nice small two story museum with interesting artifacts and a MERMAN on display! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The building is lovely and there is a well kept garden with fountain in back.

Good place. It’s free. Small but with a lot of history. The second floor has a space for the kids to do a lot of activities. You can donate some money at the end of the tour. Average time to spend … about 30 minutes.
